A job booked as a power point, a light or an EV charger now regularly involves an installation with a battery energy storage system the attending electrician did not install, and that changes both the isolation procedure and the testing that has to follow.
Installer bulletin: CSIP-AUS registration for Powerwall 3 in WA
Guidance current at 14 August 2026 states that AC-coupled Powerwall 3 configurations are not supported in any capacity. Two pathways remain: new solar wired directly to the integrated inverter, or migration of suitable existing PV onto it. This bulletin sets out those pathways, the CSIP-AUS registration process, the export limit position, and the two failures behind most registration problems on site.
Installer Bulletin: Powerwall 2 Recall Now Routes Replacements Through the Original Installer
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission updated recall PRA 2025/20611 for the Tesla Powerwall 2 on 12 August 2026. The notice now directs owners of affected systems to contact their original installer to schedule the free replacement, with Tesla support as the fallback. The affected units and the underlying hazard are unchanged.

Western Australia's Director of Energy Safety prosecuted an electrical contractor and an electrical worker over a Maylands battery installation wired so it could unintentionally back-feed the network during an outage. The contractor was fined $20,000 for submitting a notice of completion that declared the work complete, compliant and safe. The worker was fined $5,000.
Installer Bulletin: Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 2 Compatibility Moves to Official Firmware
Tesla confirmed in July 2026 that mixed Powerwall 2 and Powerwall 3 systems had moved from pilot firmware to an official release, with official firmware to become standard at commissioning from mid-August. That date has passed, and the parallel pilot arrangement described in the original notice has ended.
